sillydog II

sillydog II
Meet Ranger, our third-generation German shepherd. He's a rescue dog via Great Northwest German Shepherd Rescue of Oregon and we adopted him in January 2015. Ranger's more of a sassy dog than a silly dog, but we love him just the same.

Who is silly dog? And where is his garden?

He was also known as Dakota, Dakota Joe, Dakota-wota-woo-woo or the Big Butthead, depending on circumstances. Dakota was a 13 1/2-year-old German shepherd who kept watch over us and loved to chase the squirrels and snooze under the maple tree.

We said good-bye to him in October 2014.

Karen and Brian, the silly dog's keepers, met while earning their degrees in horticulture at Colorado State University. Eventually, they put down roots in Northeastern Minnesota not far from Lake Superior. It's here where they challenge hardiness zones in their quest to grow as many representatives of the Plant Kingdom as they can.

Unless otherwise noted, images are from our garden in Minnesota, zone 3-4.

THANKS FOR VISITING!
