Pattern play with the snow

Today's slow, heavy, wet snow was just right for focusing the eye on patterns absent in other seasons.

A few rose hips still cling to Rosa glauca in the herb garden.

Capped with fresh snow, bee balm zombies march toward nowhere.

The tree lilac cuts a lacy silhouette against the house.

  1. Having snow this time of year can be a real bummer but, the wondrous contrast of fresh white snow quiescently suspended on darken branches creates one of my favorite scenes. Even one of my new favorites, bee balm, looks good in a bomber hat.

  2. "Bomber hat" -- nice! Bee balm is one of my favorites, too.
